73.43Level 22 — diminished pivot

Diminished 7th chords are useful connectors because of symmetry.

Example:

B°7:

B-D-F-A♭.

B°7 - symmetrical, reinterpretable connector

The same pitch set can be enharmonically reinterpreted under different roots/functions.

This makes diminished harmony excellent for modulation.
