For:

Cm7 → F7 → B♭maj7 → E♭maj7

you can largely think:

B♭ major

pitch collection.

For:

Am7♭5 → D7 → Gm

think:

G minor,

but D7 needs F♯.

So rather than memorizing separate modes for every bar:

hear the local key center.
