There is a progression:

Stage 1

count 1-2-3-4-5.

Stage 2

feel 3+2.

Stage 3

feel two large pulses.

Stage 4

hear whole phrases without conscious counting.

You need Stage 1.

But you do not want to perform permanently from Stage 1.
