This is almost unfairly effective.

Intro

one blues riff in F.

Phrase 1

melody mostly single-note with bluesy chord responses.

Phrase 2

add ♭3→3 inflections around the harmony.

Phrase 3

play melody in octaves/block chords.

Phrase 4

turnaround:

D7 → Gm7 → C7 → F.

Then:

Shout tag

use a tiny fragment of the melody as a repeated ensemble riff.

Final:

one dry F6/9.

The original tune survives completely.

But now it has:

gospel

blues

big-band

and hard-bop DNA.
