When practicing a tune:
- improvise with 1 note
- then 2 notes
- then 3 chord tones
- pentatonic
- blues scale
- guide tones
- full harmonic vocabulary
- chromaticism
Do not always begin at level 7.
The lower levels train actual phrasing.
