61.87A practical dominant hierarchy

When you see G7→C/Cm, ask:

Do I need plain dominant?

If not:

Do I want ♭9?

If more color:

Do I want diminished-type 13/♭9?

If more compression:

Do I want altered?

If using tritone substitution/static color:

Would Lydian dominant fit the sound?

This is more useful than selecting scales automatically.
