97.160Mini-project — The Audiated Arrangement
Create a 32-bar solo-piano piece where major decisions must be heard before being played.
Requirements:
- compose the 4-bar opening melody away from the piano
- establish its scale degrees before finding notes
- hear the bass line before adding harmony
- one ii–V–I whose guide-tone lines are sung before playing
- one borrowed iv created from a pre-heard chromatic inner line
- one tritone substitution that must be imagined before insertion
- one section where melody is physically absent but internally maintained
- one section where bass is absent but internally maintained
- one silent bar with continued internal pulse/harmony
- one phrase with a pre-heard target note two bars ahead
- one modulation whose new tonic is internally heard before the transition begins
- one rhythmic motif composed away from the keyboard
- one final cadence where the precise top-line resolution is chosen before the chord voicings
- record the final performance and identify moments where the fingers still appear to be searching rather than confirming
The objective is not perfection.
The objective is to shift authority gradually from:
hands → ear.
