19.21Don't train intervals only as abstract songs

Traditional ear training may say:

“perfect fifth sounds like the opening of X.”

That can help initially.

But for practical piano, scale-degree context is often more valuable.

Instead of:

“G to D is a perfect fifth”

also hear:

“1 to 5.”

Or:

“5 to 2.”

Same interval, different harmonic meaning.
