You can also use:

C → B → B♭ → A

with:

C → G/B → B♭ → F/A

Then:

A♭ → G

using:

Fm/A♭ → G

This adds borrowed-minor color.

Pop can use the same chromatic devices as jazz but with simpler voicings.
