10.6The famous minor line cliché

One of the most important devices in minor-key ballads is the descending chromatic line:

C → B → B♭ → A

C → B → B♭ → A

while C minor remains the tonal center.

That can imply chords such as:

Cm → Cm(maj7) → Cm7 → Cm6

This is called a line cliché.
