33.38Level 18 — altered dominant as bridge

Suppose you need to move toward a remote major arrival.

A dominant may act as a bridge even if the larger key is ambiguous.

Example:

E♭7 → A♭maj7.

Very clear.

The dominant moment gives the ear temporary certainty.
