10.5The general dominant rule

A dominant seventh chord tends to resolve down a fifth / up a fourth.

So:

G7 → C

D7 → G

A7 → D

E7 → A

B7 → E

C7 → F

F7 → B♭

This is one of the strongest harmonic relationships in tonal music.
