28.1First distinction: “Latin” is not one rhythm
This is important.
“Latin” covers many very different traditions:
- Brazilian bossa nova
- samba
- Cuban son
- mambo
- cha-cha
- salsa
- bolero
- Afro-Cuban jazz
- many others
We are not going to pretend one piano pattern represents all of them.
For this module, our main practical laboratory will be:
Bossa nova / Brazilian jazz-pop piano
because it integrates beautifully with the harmony you've already learned.
