Keep the structural melody recognizable.

On a repeat:

  • preserve phrase beginnings
  • displace one connecting note by octave
  • add one wider approach into phrase 3 climax
  • use a fourth-based fill between phrases
  • return to the plain melody at the ending

The result sounds like a true paraphrase rather than reharmonization alone.
