For a late solo or transition:

keep the main swing language intact.

At one turnaround:

replace a normal dominant with:

whole-tone G7♯5 color

or:

diminished G7♭9 color.

For a modulation:

a brief augmented/diminished connector can create theatrical suspense before the new key appears.

Do not turn the whole arrangement into symmetrical harmony.

One well-placed destabilization will be more effective.
