18.92Fixed-do and movable function
Because you use fixed-do notation naturally, keep both layers:
A♭ is always the physical/named pitch A♭ / ля-бемоль.
But when A♭ is tonic:
functionally it is 1.
That dual awareness is exactly what we want:
fixed pitch identity + movable harmonic function.
