Take a repeated chorus.
Chorus 1: one chord per bar.
Chorus 2: more inversions but same rate.
Chorus 3: two chords per bar near cadences.
Chorus 4: dominant chains / passing chords.
You can make harmony gradually more active.
This is excellent repeated-chorus development.
