Opposite exercise.

Take:

C → F → G → C.

Now insert:

C → A7 → Dm → G7

C → A7 → Dm → G7

then:

C → C7 → F → Fm

C → C7 → F → Fm

etc.

But every added chord must serve:

  • bass line
  • guide tone
  • phrase
  • destination

not merely increase density.
