5.24Harmonic rhythm
Another important concept:
harmonic rhythm means how often the chords change.
Suppose:
C | Am | Dm | G7
One chord per bar.
Now play each chord for only two beats:
C Am | Dm G7
Same chords.
Faster harmonic rhythm.
It feels more active.
Or hold:
C for two bars,
then:
F | G7 | C
Slower harmonic rhythm at first.
Arranging is partly deciding when harmony changes, not just which harmony.
