8.53Level 28 — secondary dominant as a melodic event

When a secondary dominant appears, emphasize its altered third.

Example:

D7 → Gm.

Play:

F → F♯ → G.

You have just “played the chord change” melodically.

This is far more useful than memorizing another pattern.
