Write 24 bars with three harmonic environments.

Section A — 8 bars

C Lydian.

RH primarily:

C major + D major triad pair.

Section B — 8 bars

C Dorian.

RH:

D minor + E♭ major.

Section C — 4 bars

G7alt.

RH:

A♭ minor + B♭ minor.

Final 4 bars

Cm or C-major resolution of your choice.

Requirements:

  • at least three inversions of every triad
  • one triad-pair line crossing a barline
  • one 3+3+2 rhythmic phrase
  • one phrase with only two-note triad fragments
  • one shell + upper-triad voicing
  • one bar of complete silence from RH
  • simple final tonic

The listener should hear three distinct harmonic worlds, even though your mental vocabulary is just six triads.
