3.22Ear exercise: natural 7 versus leading 7

In A minor, play:

G → A

G → A

Then:

G♯ → A

G♯ → A

Repeat.

The second should sound much more magnetically drawn toward A.

Now play:

Em → Am

then:

E7 → Am

Try to connect what your ear hears in the chord progression with the single-note movement:

G♯ → A

That is theory becoming sound.
