Version 1:

block chords, one per bar.

Version 2:

arpeggiate each chord.

Version 3:

same progression, but make Dm and G7 half a bar each:

C | Am | Dm G7 | C

Version 4:

add bass passing notes:

C → B → A → D → G → C

Listen to how the phrase changes even though the harmonic destination remains the same.
