18.41Altered dominant preview
Suppose:
G7 → C
and you want maximum tension.
You might use altered notes:
A♭ = ♭9
B♭/A♯ = ♯9
D♭ = ♭5/♯11
E♭ = ♭13
A scale containing these tensions is commonly called the altered scale.
For G:
G A♭ B♭ B D♭ E♭ F
depending on spelling.
