22.27ii–backdoor–I

Backdoor dominant is often prepared by its ii chord.

If B♭7 is the backdoor dominant, its ii is:

Fm7

So:

Fm7 → B♭7 → Cmaj7

This is called a backdoor ii–V into C.

Notice that Fm7 and B♭7 come from the parallel minor/modal mixture world.
