8.1Start with the simplest texture: block chords

Play:

C = C-E-G

C = C-E-G

Am = A-C-E

Am = A-C-E

F = F-A-C

F = F-A-C

G7 = G-B-D-F

G7 = G-B-D-F

One chord per bar.

Count:

1 2 3 4

This gives you harmony, but not much motion.

Still, block chords are important because they let you hear the progression clearly.

Exercise

Play:

C | Am | F | G7 | C

First with no pedal.

Then with careful pedal.

Listen only to harmonic function.
