Take C major:
C–E–G
= до–ми–соль
The root C is on the bottom.
This is called:
root position
You can think:
1–3–5
Now take A minor:
A–C–E
also root position.
Then F:
F–A–C
Then G:
G–B–D
If you play:
C → Am → F → G → C
all in root position, your hand jumps around quite a lot.
Try it.
It works harmonically, but it is not very elegant.
