For now, don't worry about traditional counterpoint rules like forbidden parallel fifths.

Those rules matter in certain styles, but they're not our main objective.

Our practical priority is:

• smooth motion
• clear harmonic function
• melody on top
• good register
• pleasing bass line

Later, when we study counterpoint, we'll become more precise.
