When you see a new chord, don't automatically jump to root position.
Ask:
- Which notes are common?
- Which notes can stay?
- Which notes can move by semitone?
- Which can move by whole step?
- Can I avoid unnecessary leaps?
This is one of the most useful practical habits you can develop.
