A very useful voicing concept:

Take a closed four-note chord.

Example:

C E G B

Now take the second-highest note:

G

and drop it an octave.

You get:

G C E B

This is called a drop-2 voicing.

You don’t need to memorize the term immediately, but the sound is useful.

It opens the chord.
