12.33Don't overuse secondary dominants
If every chord gets its own dominant:
E7 → A7 → D7 → G7 → C7 → F...
the music can become relentlessly directional.
Sometimes that's exactly what you want.
Sometimes simple:
C → Am → F → G
is better.
Secondary dominants are seasoning.
Use them to make certain destinations more important.
