12.41Secondary dominant + ii–V

Want to tonicize F temporarily?

Instead of:

C → F

use:

Gm7 → C7 → F

That's the ii–V of F.

Now:

C is still the dominant of F, but we prepare C7 with its own ii chord, Gm7.

So the destination becomes even stronger.
