Early chorus:

melody mostly alone.

Later:

short middle-register horn-like responses after phrases.

Walking bass remains the lower counterline.

Final chorus:

some responses become block chords.

You now create the illusion of:

lead singer/horn + answering section + bass player

on one piano.
